Post-Election: TrustRenews in 2025

Update! First I want to thank those of you who follow me, I appreciate you!

I'm finishing up the transition to NYC. It's going well, despite some inevitable curve balls from the Universe, aka "mindset learning opportunities". 😅

One reason I moved back to the US from Mexico City was to reprise my role as a participating female US citizen. Part of that journey includes producing this blog. As I've worked through the highs and lows of October and November, I’ve reflected on TrustRenews and its direction.

It's more important than ever that smart leaders, especially women, understand the systemic structures behind money, power, and emerging technologies (Web3, AI). While I’m not interested in wading into the US political milieu, I can’t ignore how technology and politics intersect today. I am here to advocate for advancing technology in ways that benefit all people.

Emerging technologies like AI and Web3 are leading to profound changes. For better or worse, the outcomes depend largely on who controls the projects and regulatory environment.

As we head into 2025, TrustRenews will stay focused on helping leaders, especially women, understand and navigate new technologies. I’ll also add three important dimensions:

Richer Context: Alongside our tech-focused explanations, we’ll dive deeper into the current systems—political, economic, and social—that these technologies intersect with. Understanding the broader context gives meaning to the change.

Wider Reach: I'm planning a focused outreach effort, including contributions to other media and podcast appearances. aka Roadshow. 🎉

If you know any publishers or podcasters with audiences who would benefit from this content, please reach out.

Collaborative Advocacy: I'm actively looking to connect with people and organizations working toward just and ethical outcomes in tech regulation and use.

Emerging technologies like AI and Web3 can drive meaningful progress—but only if they’re guided by values that serve everyone, not just entrenched power structures.

We’re here to advocate for innovation that enhances human potential in a way that’s responsible, inclusive, and future-focused.

Here are some examples of what we’re covering, if you are interested:

Example 1: Every American needs to better understand the implications of a Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC). If you understand blockchain, you know that a CBDC is a tool that can be a boon for free society or the ultimate tool for state control of individual economic activity. You can learn more here.

Example 2: Web3 in the wrong hands can vastly increase state surveillance and control of citizens. It's already happening in China at scale. What you may not realize is that US citizens are at risk as well. We have pockets of a dystopian future existing in the present. Case in point: Texas. You can learn more here.

Texas had the 3rd highest population growth rate in the US in 2023. Texas is one of the most crypto-friendly states. In other words, key Texas leadership understands blockchain.

At the same time, morality legislation is attempting to control families and women. Texas' SB8 law is like something you would find in Russia or China. Several women have died from miscarriage complications while waiting for care.

I admit, this is where it gets personal. As they say in Texas, "I got a dog in this fight". I have nieces and women friends in TX. I grew up in Houston.

In 1990, my first pregnancy miscarried in Austin, and I was immediately checked into hospital for a D&C. My husband and I were fortunate that we didn't have to worry about how to find medical care for me at the same time we were grieving.

Maternal deaths in Texas increased 56% from 2019 to 2022. This compared with an 11% increase in maternal deaths nationwide during the same time period, in the wealthiest and most technologically advanced country on earth.

I'm not an alarmist. Maybe I should be, but I like to let data and outcomes speak to the intelligence or ignorance of systems (or laws, or legislators).

My intention is to calmly connect the dots with data, examples, and storytelling for smart people, so they can come to their own conclusions.
